Privacy Policy
Last updated: November 20, 2025 — This privacy policy explains how Ben’s Crypto & Giftcard Exchange (the “Extension”) collects, uses, shares, and stores information.
Summary — in plain language
The Extension is a lightweight browser tool that helps users quickly prefill a WhatsApp message to contact the extension owner (Ben) to buy or sell crypto, gift cards, ATM cards, and similar assets. The Extension does not send your data to any external server owned by the developer. It only:
- Uses the browser to open a WhatsApp link (
wa.me/) that contains the message you composed. - Stores a few simple preferences (like the owner's WhatsApp number and last-used form fields) inside Chrome's
chrome.storagewhen the owner sets them in Options.
Information the extension collects
The Extension itself collects or stores only the minimal information required to operate:
- Owner settings (stored via
chrome.storage.sync): WhatsApp phone number used by the extension (set by the owner), message template, and a few UX preferences (default currency, toggle for selection capture). - Optional last-used fields: The extension may store last-used asset/currency values to make the form faster to use. These are stored locally in the user's Chrome sync storage if enabled.
- Selected page text: If you (the user) allow the extension to capture selected text on a page, that selected text may be prefilled to the Notes field in the popup. This is not transmitted anywhere by the extension itself.
Information the extension does NOT collect or send
- We do not send your form data to any external server or database operated by us.
- We do not collect, store, or process passwords, account tokens, private keys, or payment credentials.
- We do not embed analytics, tracking pixels, remote logging, or third-party SDKs in the extension.
How the WhatsApp message is created
When you click “Trade Now on WhatsApp”, the Extension composes a message on your device and opens a URL like:
https://wa.me/<owner-phone>?text=<url-encoded-message>
The message content is generated on your device from the form fields and then handed to WhatsApp (web or app) by the browser.
Third-party services and links
- WhatsApp: Messages are sent through WhatsApp. WhatsApp's privacy practices are governed by WhatsApp's own privacy policy — the developer is not responsible for WhatsApp’s handling of any message content.
- Chrome Web Store: If you installed the extension from the Chrome Web Store, Google may collect store-related metadata (ratings, install counts) according to Google's policies.
Storage & retention
Owner settings and light user preferences are saved in your browser's chrome.storage. You can clear this data by removing the extension or using Chrome's extension settings.
- To remove stored settings: Open
chrome://extensions→ find the extension → Remove. - Data stored in
chrome.storage.syncis synced with the signed-in Chrome profile if the user allows sync; if you do not want sync, you can disable it in your browser.
User rights & GDPR / CCPA notices
If you are in the EU/EEA (GDPR) or California (CCPA) you can request access to data stored by the extension (limited to the owner-specified settings stored in chrome.storage) or request deletion by removing the extension or contacting the owner. The extension developer does not keep any separate backup copies of your input data.
Security
- The extension stores only non-sensitive preferences and does not transmit user data to a remote server.
- Always keep your browser up to date. If you share a device, do not save sensitive information in the extension fields.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, the "Last updated" date at the top will change. Users will be encouraged to review the policy when significant changes are made.
